Where We’ve Been, Where We’re Going—Our Opportunity To Do Better

For 15 years, b-glowing has made a conscious effort to support diversity in every aspect of our business. We value the People of Color (POC) we work with, whether they’re customers, employees, or Black-owned beauty brands. It’s these individuals who have helped b-glowing become what it is today—and they deserve our support in return.

We are a white, female-owned business in Portland, OR. While we have made strides to support the Black community, there is still a lot of work to do. Simply put—we can do better.

So, here’s how we are moving forward...

We recently made a donation to Black Lives Matter in support of these  communities and those who are working to eliminate systemic racism in our country. We are making a commitment to continue supporting these organizations as advocates for change.

Part of this commitment includes focusing our efforts inward as well. While we are a small company, we have a diverse team of talented individuals whose various backgrounds and identities we support and respect. We will continue to look for opportunities to diversify in all aspects of our business. Our goal has always been to improve the lives of our employees, our communities, and, of course, our customers.

We are proud to have carried hundreds of beauty brands over the last 15 years. We take pride in carefully curating and bringing our shoppers beauty brands that we love. This includes POC and LGBTQ+ owned beauty brands. That being said, at this moment, we do not have any Black-owned beauty brands on our site. We’re actively putting a conscious effort into discovering more POC-owned beauty brands and we look forward to sharing them with you in the near future.

We are also evaluating our vendor relationships to ensure they meet our expectations on equality and inclusivity. We will be working closely with our brands to ensure a conscious effort is made to feature diversity in all our marketing. It is our belief that beauty of all kinds should be celebrated, and are working to expand our horizons—within our organization, in what we offer our valued customers, and as  community members committed to the rights of all individuals.

In conclusion…

At our core, we believe your true self and your unique story are what make you truly beautiful. We can not sit idly by without doing everything we can to support ending systemic racism and uplift the Black community. We continue to learn and grow—and we look forward to sharing diverse beauty brands, unique founder stories, and a range of inclusive beauty products at b-glowing.
